Meet Coastal (aka Willow)! She is a 2-year-old, 55-pound spayed female with a joyful spirit and a heart full of love. Once she feels safe, her personality truly shines — playful, affectionate, and delightfully goofy. She bonds closely with her people and enjoys being near them, whether she’s out exploring or relaxing by your side at home.
In her foster home, Coastal has been a dream. She is fully house trained with a solid routine and no accidents, and she settles nicely when left alone, snoozing peacefully in her crate. She thrives with structure and consistency and continues to gain confidence each day. Training is going well, and she’s currently working on polishing her leash skills, including “heel.”
Coastal is high energy and loves activities that challenge both her body and mind. She enjoys running, tug, and exploring new environments, and she’s impressively agile — confidently climbing, jumping, and balancing during adventures. On walks, she may start out a bit enthusiastic, but she quickly settles into a nice rhythm. She has had a few brief moments of nighttime reactivity to unseen critters, but with reassurance, she recovers well and continues moving forward.
Coastal has met other dog friends at BARCS and has shown she prefers gentle, respectful playmates who match her play style. She would love to meet any resident dogs to ensure everyone is a good fit. At her core, Coastal is a loving, adventurous companion who would thrive with an active adopter excited to continue training, enrichment, and confidence-building.

Step 1: Check out the adoptable cats, dogs and small companion animals listed on our website.** Animals with a blue “I’m in Foster” banner are not currently in our shelter. See below for our adoption process for animals in foster homes.
Step 2: Visit our shelter during adoption hours (Monday-Friday 2-6 p.m. and Saturday-Sunday 11 a.m.-4 p.m.). When you arrive, you will first be asked to fill out our Shelter Adoption Application with your information. You may also pre-fill our Shelter Adoption Application ahead of time online to save time when you are at the shelter. Your application will be processed after you meet the animal.
Step 3: Tour our adoption rooms and write down the names of animals that you would like to meet. A volunteer or staff member will help you meet your chosen animals to make a match!
Step 4: When you have selected the right animal for you, our Adoptions Team will run your Adoption Application for approval. Once your application is approved, you will participate in an adoption class where you will learn all of the details about your new adopted family member, including their known history and medical records.
What else to expect: Animals who are already spayed/neutered and past their stray hold (if applicable) can often go home with you the same day. Pick-up arrangements for unaltered animals and/or animals still on a stray hold will be made during your adoption class.
