Chabetta, a model Rat Terrier with the spots to prove it, is a most lovely lady. Dainty and strong, she has a shy manner that is mostly gentility, an attribute that has served her well as a long-time cherished companion of kids and dogs. She’s a spry elder who likes a walk and a wander, especially if they lead to quality couch and lap time. She can climb stairs but finds descending to be less appealing. Or maybe she just likes the hug and kiss than come with a lift. We do. Chabetta is an authorized sweetie pie who is happy to be a household mentor when it comes to good manners. All she needs is love.
Here's some notes from her foster:
Chabetta (who we have been affectionately calling Cha-cha) has been the loveliest houseguest. We would describe her as curious, gentle and very affectionate! It’s possible her personality has a hard time coming out when surrounded by other dogs, as she appears to be partially blind and thus may appear more timid than she actually is.
We have a 4 month old infant and Cha-cha gives her space and is unaffected by her crying (she appears to to have some hearing loss). C is a HUGE snuggle bug and prefers to join us on the couch or in the bed and rubs her head near us asking for pets. She has had no accidents in the house and is good at communicating when she needs to go out and go potty (gives one bark by the door). She walks well on the leash and likes to say hello to other dogs on the street. While she probably doesn’t need a ton of exercise she is a curious and adventurous gal who would like to be out in the world occasionally. She has gotten comfortable going up and down our full flight of stairs but probably would do well in a home where she can be being carried or with fewer stairs. She is brave and jumps on and off the couch and has even made it up and down from the bed but we are trying to teach her to use an ottoman as a step. She would do great in a home where someone is looking for a companion and is retired or at home most of the days.
