Since I'm a long stay pup, my adoption fee has been reduced! Visit me today to find out my favorite treats and how you can take me home!
Robert is a strong and spirited dog in our Shelter Scholars program, where he's practicing the skills to manage on-leash reactivity with more composure. Through engagement games, leash work, and confidence-building routines, Robert is learning how to stay present and respond to his handler instead of reacting to his surroundings. His progress is encouraging and ongoing.
Meet Robert!
Robert arrived at our care center as a stray, spending one day with a finder before coming in. He is a sweet, curious, and playful dog who enjoys belly rubs, treats, and zoomies around the room. He can be a bit wiggly and excited, but warms up quickly with gentle guidance and positive interactions.
My Ideal Home
Robert would thrive in a calm household with patient adopters who can provide structure and positive reinforcement. He benefits from consistent routines and slow introductions to new people, dogs, and environments. He is best suited for homes without very young children and can excel in a home that practices confidence-building, leash skills, and engagement games to manage his excitement and barrier frustration.
Good with Kids?
No - Robert is recommended for homes without children under 5 due to fearfulness and stress around small humans. He may be open to older children once he meets them and feels comfortable.
Good with Other Pets?
Robert has limited dog-to-dog experience. In the shelter, he has shown some interest in other dogs but can pull, fixate, or bark on leash. He is still learning to safely engage and disengage from other dogs and would benefit from careful introductions in a new home.
Leash Manners
Robert walks on leash with structure and engagement games like the "123 game." He can be reactive or excited when seeing other dogs, people, or noises, but responds well to redirection, treats, and calm guidance. Pulling is common without focus, but he is capable of walking nicely once engaged.
Overall Health
Healthy overall.
Behavior Determination
Level 2 / New Hope - Robert is a strong and spirited dog who benefits from patient, structured handling. He may show fear or barrier frustration, making him best suited for adopters familiar with building trust and confidence in dogs.
Other Fun Facts
Robert loves getting pets and snuggles, practicing tricks for treats, and bouncing around with excitement. He enjoys engagement games, zoomies, and belly rubs, and shows great potential as he learns to focus and respond calmly on leash. His playful and affectionate personality shines once he feels safe. Primary Color: Brown Brindle Secondary Color: White Weight: 64.2 Age: 3yrs 3mths 2wks
