Here's what the humans have to say about me:
Koda came into rescue last fall with 5 poodles (all adopted). We thought that we would keep Koda because she reminded us a lot of our bullmastiff that we had just lost. She had the same coloring, the same underbite and no tail. She looked a lot like him too in the face. Unfortunately, we have decided that we are getting too old for the giant breeds and have decided that Koda deserves a home with a younger family or less health issues than we have. We just dont have the ability anymore to manhandle her if she were ever in a position that she needed us to and there is also the possibility that she could knock us down when she gets excited. Koda weighs over 100 pounds now and is such a wonderful girl! We love her so much and its breaking my heart to have to let her go! Koda gets along with other dogs and has been introduced to many over the last several months. She absolutely loves to play but can get carried away sometimes and get too rough. She has never been mean or tried attacking another dog but she rough houses and given her size compared to her playmates..well, lets just say she doesnt know just how big she is! She can also get really excited and become like a bouncing kangaroo. Again, she is so big that she can easily knock someone over. In the house, she is lazy. She just loves to flop down on the ground or on one of the dogs beds and sleep. She is housebroken here but we never guarantee that any of our dogs will be housebroken once they leave us and have to learn a new routine. Koda goes in and out here. Sometimes she prefers being outside and sometimes she wants to be in. Koda walks on a leash but hasnt been on one in awhile so she may need a refresher. Koda has lived with kids and has been fine with them but again, be mindful of her size. She could, potentially, knock a kid over with how big she is. Koda hasnt been around cats at all so we have no idea how she would do with them. Koda has great house manners and is a total gem. If she were a bit smaller or if we were a bit younger and in better health, we would not even consider giving her up! We love this girl so we will be very picky about her new home.
Koda saw the vet on 2/3/25 and was found to have an ear infection at that time that was treated with Claro Otic. She tested negative for heartworms and has been started on Simparica Trio for flea control and heartworm prevention. She did test positive on her fecal and was dewormed with Drontal. Koda weighed 103.1 pounds as of 2/3/25.
If interested in giving Koda her forever home, please submit your interest and your adoption application via email or text ONLY to 352-215-3260 (phone calls will not be answered or returned from this number). Koda's adoption fee will be $500 to help cover the cost of her vetting and daily care while with us. We will only consider applicants who complete the adoption application and will determine whether the applicant would be a good fit for Koda based on the info provided in the application. If we feel that you will be a good match for her, we will set up a meet and greet appointment with you.
