Here's what the humans have to say about me:
Meet Nellie!
Nellie is a sweet 2-year-old German Shepherd who has already been through so much in her young life. She was first found living under a freeway in Oregon and taken to a shelter, where she landed on the euthanasia list. Thankfully, she was saved by a loving family and enjoyed a happy year with them.
Sadly, when that family—a mom and her three kids—lost their home and were living in a tent, they faced the impossible choice of giving Nellie up in order to move into housing that didn’t allow dogs. It was a heartbreaking decision, as Nellie was deeply loved, and they still call to check on her to this day. When they reached out for help, we knew we had to step in for this special girl.
Nellie is shy at first and can be nervous in new situations, but she warms up quickly and bonds deeply with her people. She especially adores children—she lived with three kids (ages 6–13) in her previous home and was gentle and loving with them. Nellie has also lived peacefully with both cats and dogs. She does great with *DOG SAVVY CATS* she likes to play and chase and that’s not for every cat/home.
She is crate trained, non-destructive in the home, and rides nicely in the car. Busy roads can make her nervous, but she enjoys training and has even done well in group training classes. Nellie is looking for a patient adopter who can help her continue to build confidence and show her that the world isn’t such a scary place after all.
If you’re looking for a loyal, loving companion who just needs a safe place to land, Nellie may be the perfect match for you!
