Name: Grandpa Rocky
Age: 10 - 14 years old
Weight: 70 lbs
Breed: Labrador Terrier Mix
Grandpa Rocky was surrendered to shelter where he became the
1000th animal to take residence at the NYCACC, causing the shelter to suspend intake. Rocky made the paper - he was in the @nydailynews!
That drove interest in him, adoption and rescue inquiries. But 15 days later Rocky was still with stuck at the shelter, and had developed kennel cough.
His former family said he was adopted 7 years ago from a suspected fighting situation. They said he's a social, affectionate and quiet couch potato who loves to be around people. He enjoys spending his time in the kitchen, is accustomed to going on multiple walks a day, does not enjoy car rides at all but does love wet food of any brand. They said he's a social and loving dog that loves making friends and spending time with his family.
Thankfully we were able to take Rocky and get him into a loving foster home where he has been recovering amazingly well. His foster mom confirms he is very sweet boy, who likes to sleep.
He’s very house broken! If he has to go out before his scheduled walk, he will lick and paw at your hand to let you know.
He doesn’t chew anything around the house and is not a barker.
On walks he doesn’t pull and usually does little check ins by looking at you.
He has interacted with dogs on walks he gets a little excited but then distracted pretty easily after the initial greeting. He has ‘played’ for short period of time with dogs on walks he will smell them and will allow them to smell him and then play bow.
He’s fine with baths, he just stands there.
He solicits attention at times but he mostly just wants to nap in the same room as you.
He has trouble hearing, and does not respond to when called. He does well with hand signals!
Rockys tongue pokes out as he is missing some teeth.
