My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

**Potential adopters must fill out the questionnaire at the end of the bio **Meet Chip: The Playful Explorer Ready for His Forever Home!** Chip and his three adorable siblings were rescued from a homeless encampment, and now they’re thriving in a loving, safe environment. With Mama being a terrier/chihuahua mix and Dad likely being a bit larger, Chip has inherited the perfect combination of spunky energy and sweet affection. Chip is the *curious* one of the group—always exploring, always seeking out the next fun adventure. His playful spirit and goofy antics will surely bring joy to any home. Whether he's running around with his siblings or snuggling up for a nap, Chip is full of love and energy. We are now accepting adoption applications and scheduling meet-and-greets for potential adopters! If you’re looking for a loving, playful companion, Chip might just be the perfect fit. Chip has started his vaccinations, and he is scheduled to be neutered and microchipped on September 4, 2025. Animal Rescue Recon ensures that each dog is current on its vaccinations, has been or will be spayed or neutered, and is microchipped to help keep pets out of the shelters and get them back home where they belong. ****Answers to the questionnaire must be emailed to GraciaButter@gmail.com. Please tell us a bit about yourself/family • What city do you live in? • Do you rent or own? • Any children in the home? What ages? List all family members living in the home • What is your work schedule? Family schedule? • How many hours per day would the pet be left alone? • Where is the pet kept when left alone? • Where does the pet sleep? • Any other pets in the home? If so, what type/breed? • How often will the dog be exercised? • If the dog becomes ill or injured are you financially prepared to provide medical care? • Are you prepared to care for this dog for its life span of 15+ years? • Do you have a training plan? Please explain. • Do you have a plan in place if something happens and you can no longer care for the dog? • Before adoption, an up-close video of your fenced yard will be required - the entire perimeter including gates and the bottom of the fencing. The yard must be free of foxtails and fully secured. • Home check may be performed • If 'meet & greet' is scheduled, all household members, dogs included, must be present.September 29, 2025, 10:37 am

Their adoption process

1.

Interview

Once you find a dog that you would like to meet, reach out via phone/EM and we will notify that dog's foster to contact you.

2.

Meet the Pet

After some preliminary information is gathered and the foster feels it will be a good fit for the dog, they will schedule a meet & greet.

3.

Submit Application

If everyone agrees this is the perfect match, complete the adoption application.

4.

Home Check

A home check will be scheduled. Depending on your location, a detailed video of the yard/fence/gates may be acceptable.

5.

Approve Application

Once the interview, meet & greet, and home check has been complete, the application is reviewed and approved.

Additional adoption info

Our adoptions fees are determined to help recover our expenses put into the dog for vaccinations, spay/neuter, and microchip. The fee is $450 for puppies 6 months and under, $400 for over 6 months, and $500 for dogs we took in with medical needs.

We will perform a home-check and/or require pictures of your yard's fencing & gates.

Typically we do not adopt to families with children under the age of 5 unless we know the history of the dog or have witnessed the animal's exposure and reaction to small children.

If you currently own a pet, controlled introductions will be scheduled.

Renters must provide a copy of their lease agreement which reflects the property's pet policy.

Go meet their pets

Public adoptions are held at various pet stores in Antioch, Concord or Walnut Creek on alternating Saturday's. Please call or email for upcoming event locations.

Alternately, private appointments may be scheduled during the week, based on foster's availability. Again, please email to schedule.

More about this rescue

Animal Rescue Recon, Inc. was established in September 2012 by a group of dedicated, hard-working animal lovers, all with a passion to make a difference and give unwanted animals a second chance.

Based out of Oakley, CA, Animal Rescue Recon serves East Contra Costa County - an area that has minimal options for homeless or abandoned animals.

Our all-volunteer group has various levels of experience in the field of animal rescue, but all have a heart for helping to find forever homes for our voiceless, furry friends. We have no paid staff - we operate solely on volunteers and services donated by members of the community and local businesses.
