Rescue FAQs

Animal Rescue Recon, Inc. was established in September 2012 by a group of dedicated, hard-working animal lovers, all with a passion to make a difference and give unwanted animals a second chance. Based out of Oakley, CA, Animal Rescue Recon serves East Contra Costa County - an area that has minimal options for homeless or abandoned animals. Our all-volunteer group has various levels of experience in the field of animal rescue, but all have a heart for helping to find forever homes for our voiceless, furry friends. We have no paid staff - we operate solely on volunteers and services donated by members of the community and local businesses.
Animal Rescue Recon is focused on providing high-quality animal rescue and adoption services to East Contra Costa County and surrounding areas. We do everything we can to help give homeless animals another chance at a long and healthy life in a loving home environment.

Additional adoption info

Our adoptions fees are determined to help recover our expenses put into the dog for vaccinations, spay/neuter, and microchip. The fee is $450 for puppies 6 months and under, $400 for over 6 months, and $500 for dogs we took in with medical needs.

We will perform a home-check and/or require pictures of your yard's fencing & gates.

Typically we do not adopt to families with children under the age of 5 unless we know the history of the dog or have witnessed the animal's exposure and reaction to small children.

If you currently own a pet, controlled introductions will be scheduled.

Renters must provide a copy of their lease agreement which reflects the property's pet policy.
