Captain is an amazing dog! He is good on a leash, loves long walks, loves to cuddle and enjoys a good zoomie. He can be a little shy at first but warms up quickly and is a total sweetheart! He chases cats sometimes, but overall, he is good with them and has lived with 4 cats in the past. He has also lived with 3 other dogs of various sizes - he is sometimes iffy with dogs larger than him. Captain has been DNA tested! He is 42% Pit Bull, 18% Mountain Cur, 12.9% Australian Cattle Dog, 11.4% Golden Retriever, 9.1% Boxer, and 6.4% "Supermutt". Staff will contact the adopter and schedule an appointment time to meet and greet the animal.

Sign Adoption Contract
Once the entire household meets the pet and decide they want to adopt, they will sign a contract.

Adoption fee is paid and the pet can go home.

The adoption fee includes our veterinarian performing a physical wellness check, spay/neuter, tattoo, vaccines, rabies shot, dewormer, microchip, flea/tick treatment, heartworm test, and a nail trim. All cats are also tested for FIV and FeLV.
The adoption process is quite simple. You must be at least 18 years of age or older and have a valid driver's license. You may view the adoptable animals online or at the shelter during business hours. Once you have picked an animal that is available for adoption, please fill out an application. It takes 1-2 business days for the shelter to process your application.
After an animal has been adopted, the Oak Ridge Animal Shelter will check in with you to see how your new pet is settling in. Please email the shelter update pictures!
