My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

FOREVER HOME NEEDED:
Meet Gordie! He is an adorable, 1 year old, 9 lb chihuahua who is currently living in foster care with another dog and a cat.

Gordie is an initially shy boy who will need a patient adopter to help him come out of his shell. His ideal home would be outside of the city with someone who is around often and has another dog in the home to help him build confidence. He would do best in a home with females as he struggles with bonding with men and will need slow exposure to them.

Here is what his foster has to say about him…

Gordie is a snuggly little boy. If you loved playing with baby dolls growing up, Gordie is the doggy version of that -- loves snuggling into your neck when you cuddle him, always happy to be carried around and loves nothing more than to snuggle up on the couch and binge the newest Netflix releases.

Does he trust new people right away? Of course not, he is a tiny boy who was brought in as a stray from California but once you prove you're one of the good ones, he will happily show you his spotted belly & side smile.

Does he get along with other dogs? So far so good! He is a little weary of the big ones (are they going to step on me?!) but he really loves following the little resident dog around the house and follows her lead when it comes to what to do and where to go. The perfect gentleman, he respects her space and idolizes her as the strong, independent, confident big sister she is. He would love to have another doggy sibling around to show him the ropes and help him build his confidence. He is doing well with leash walking in his foster home and he is happy and confident once he's on his leash and even has started chasing squirrels.

How about cats? While the resident pup likes to terrorize her big sister cat, this little boy is more than happy to keep his distance. He typically just ignores her, but after a new menacing glares/bats from her, he now prefers to reallllllllllly give her, her space.

If you are looking for a sweet, snuggly boy, Gordie just might be your pup!

Gordie is up to date on vaccinations, microchipped and neutered. His adoption fee is $500.

More about this rescue

Forever Home Dog Rescue is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization. We receive dogs from owner surrenders and overcrowded shelters. All of the dogs are housed in private, loving foster homes or a kennel in the greater Seattle area. We assess their behaviors and health and help them relax during their transition to a forever home. The dogs remain in foster care or in our kenneling facility until they are adopted. All of the dogs are/or will be spayed or neutered, microchipped and are current on routine vaccinations.

Forever home dog rescue is not a shelter and thus you cannot see the dogs without an appointment.

We need foster homes! Thinking about adopting a dog, but not sure yet about which breed or if you're ready for the long-term commitment? Consider becoming a foster parent. A foster dog placement can be anywhere from two weeks to several months. We provide any dog supplies you may need and cover all necessary medical costs for your foster dog. You provide the love and attention and bring the dogs to adoption events at least twice per month.

Interested? Send us an email at fhdrwa@gmail.com and we'll send you a foster application. It's lots of fun and you will meet lots of dogs and other people who love dogs.
