My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Hi!!  My name is Samuel Sage (or Sam for short).  I consider myself a very handsome young guy looking for a family who will play with me and give me all kinds of loving!

Being a parvo puppy survivor, I have a lot of learning to do.  So far, my foster mom is trying to teach me to take treats nicely.  She said I took my medicine very well - I licked the whole pill and peanut butter right off her finger with no teeth!  I'm showing her how well I do in the crate!  I walk in with no problem and I can be in there and not eveyr cry (she said she was impressed)!

I'm really proud to say that I have mastered bell training!  My mom is so excited about this because now I can ring the bell whenever I need to go outside for a potty break.  We are working on other commands like "come" and "sit".

I'm a little shy and slow to warm up to new people.  I was a little nervous around new dogs, but now I'm good with other dogs.  I'm not sure about kids, so I might be better somewhere without kids or maybe teenagers?  I'm just not sure about everything yet, but willing to check things out.

Once I warm up to people and my surroundings, I consider myself a big cuddle-bug!  I would love to meet you in hopes of finding my new home!!  Love you lots already, Sam

Please Note:  Samuel Sage came to rescue Parvo+ and is now ready to go to his furever home.  He's been released from the vet and he's ready to be adopted now!

The suggested adoption donation for Sam is $485, which includes a lifetime of free relationship-based training for any behavioral problems (not obedience training). Muddy Paws is a 501c3 non-profit organization meaning that part of your donation MAY be TAX DEDUCTIBLE. We are a 100% volunteer rescue committed to giving animals a second chance at life. All donations go toward that mission. Adoption fees are the primary source of funding for the cost of veterinary care for our animals. In 2022 alone, we provided animal Healthcare totaling over $399,000 covered mainly through adoption fees.

Information about the adoption process: All adoptions require a completed ADOPTION APPLICATION. Once your application has completed our prescreen steps, we will put you in touch with the animal’s foster to see if you and the pet are a good match. If so, we will arrange a meeting for you and the animal. The adoptions for all of our animals will take place in the Omaha, NE area and must be done by the adoptive family in person. We do not ship or deliver.

Please Note: We are a RESCUE, which is different from a shelter. We conduct veterinary and personal reference checks, and a Home Visit (Virtual in some cases) during the application approval process. We always select the right applicant for each animal, based on the animal’s needs. If you and the animal are not a good match, we will help you select another animal, or we will keep your approved application on file for 6 months.

Alter Agreement: If the dog or cat you adopt is older than 6 months of age and not spayed or neutered, you will receive a voucher to alter the pet at Val Verde Animal Hospital or Omaha Animal Medical Group in Omaha, at no cost to you. Or you can alter the pet at your own vet and be reimbursed $100 for dogs, and $50 for cats, of total cost. If the dog or cat is younger than 6 months of age, the adopter will be responsible for the cost of altering the pet at the vet of their choice. If proof of alter is received by Muddy Paws prior to the pet turning 6 months of age, a reimbursement of $100 for dogs, and $50 for cats, will be sent to you to help cover expenses. All puppies and kittens MUST be spayed or neutered by 6 months of age. All dogs and cats MUST be spayed or neutered no later than one month after adoption is finalized.

More about this rescue

Muddy Paws Second Chance Rescue, Inc. is a not for profit organization formed in 2014 by a small group of devoted animal lovers, in the Council Bluffs/Omaha area, with many years of rescue experience wanting to make a difference in the lives of dogs. Our rescue focuses on small breed dogs, less than 35 pounds, of any age. It is all volunteer based, and all of our rescue dogs are living in the homes of our volunteers.
Our rescue is unique in that we offer supportive services, such as education and training, to owners considering relinquishing their pet in an effort to try to keep the dog in their home whenever possible. We also educate and offer placement assistance to owners attempting to rehome their pets through social media sites, which can often be risky for the pets as well as the owners.
