My personality

My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

🩵 Roni –
📍 **Located in Decatur, IL**
applications at leiashope.org

Roni is a lively, affectionate miniature poodle puppy with a big personality and an even bigger heart. Playful, curious, and endlessly loving, Roni thrives on connection and wants to be involved in everything happening around him. He is a true velcro dog — happiest when he’s glued to his person or right in the middle of the action with his canine friends.

Roni loves toys, snuggles, and interactive play, and he does best in a home with children or a playful, tolerant dog who can keep up with his energy. Socially, Roni adores other dogs but doesn’t always recognize when another dog needs space. He can be very enthusiastic and “in your face,” so a confident, easygoing canine companion is ideal.

Roni was recently neutered, and his bloodwork was rechecked to monitor his SDMA levels. We’re happy to report that his values are now almost back to normal. It is suspected that Roni came into rescue with temporary kidney trauma that has since healed. He remains on a kidney-supportive supplement, and while his bloodwork should continue to be monitored as a precaution, his prognosis is excellent. It is very likely that Roni will live a long, happy life without complications.

Roni has long poodle legs and absolutely knows how to use them. He loves to jump and stretch to investigate tables and counters and has no shame about stealing food if it’s within reach. He’s always underfoot and eager to be involved, so he is not suited for homes with mobility concerns. A puppy-savvy home that’s mindful about food placement and willing to set clear boundaries will help Roni thrive.

Roni is a confident, affectionate, and entertaining little dog who brings constant joy and personality wherever he goes. He’s looking for a committed home that appreciates a clingy, playful companion and is ready to enjoy life with a dog who truly wants to be part of the family.

Roni is neutered, current on age-appropriate vaccines, microchipped, and on monthly flea and heartworm prevention. His adoption fee is $500.

Applications can be found at leiashope.org. Leia’s Hope is a volunteer-run, foster-based rescue. Applications take approximately 7–10 business days to process. Approved applications are required before meet and greets. All family members, including resident dogs, must be present. No transport or cargo flights are available — adopters must travel to the dog’s location. Dogs are lifetime commitments and must be returned to Leia’s Hope if an adopter can no longer care for them.
