My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Meet Dozer!

This handsome, bear-like German Shepherd came to the shelter with two other shepherds. At first, he sat quietly in the corner, afraid of humans it was clear he was feeling the weight of abandonment.

I made it my mission to sit with him, socialize, and earn his trust. It took about four or five patient “sit-in” sessions, where I simply let Dozer approach me on his own terms. I’d talk softly to him and let him sniff me until, little by little, a bond began to form. Before long, he was walking to the yard with me, tail wagging.

Dozer still has some fears he’s working through, but his progress has been incredible. He recently joined a playgroup and did wonderfully with the other dogs! He even came along on our Happy Tails Hike, side by side with his shepherd pal Dora.

He’s still learning that getting out of cars isn’t so scary and we’ll keep working on that but this dog is truly something special: sweet, gentle, and wonderfully chill.

Dozer is about five years old and ready for a patient, loving home where he can continue to blossom. If you’re looking for a loyal, teddy-bear-hearted companion, come meet Dozer at the Burbank Animal Shelter.
