My personality

My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Captain is our longest resident, and his journey has been one of resilience and transformation. After spending over nine months at Taylor Animal Control - waiting, fading, and nearly forgotten - our friends at Hank’s Heroes helped us pull him to safety. Since then, Captain has undergone cherry eye surgery, completed our professional training program, and blossomed into the goofy, lovable dog he was always meant to be.

Now 2 years old and 80 lbs of pure joy, Captain is neutered, vaccinated, and ready to be in a home. He’s a total rockstar in public settings - confident, friendly, and eager to meet new people. He adores human companionship and does wonderfully with older kids, though he sometimes forgets just how big and strong he is, so we recommend a home without small children.

We are currently looking for either a FOSTER or a FOSTER-TO-ADOPT home for Captain. He would thrive best as the only pet - not because he’s difficult, but because he’ll shower you with enough love to fill the whole house. He’s sweet, silly, loyal, and always ready to brighten your day with his goofy antics and affectionate nature. Should his foster or foster-to-adopt family decide he’s ‘the one,’ his adoption fee has already been sponsored.

If you’re looking for a one-of-a-kind companion who’s overcome the odds and is ready to be your best friend, Captain is waiting to meet you.

More about this rescue

12:10 K9 Rescue is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit animal rescue whose mission is to rescue, rehabilitate, and repurpose at-risk dogs into life-changing companions for veterans and those in need. Guided by faith, patriotism, and a commitment to second chances, we believe that healing flows both ways- through the unconditional love of a well-trained dog and the purpose found in giving them a new iife. Inspired by Proverbs 12:10, we are dedicated to treating every animal with compassion, and every human with dignity.
