My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

How this pet arrived:
Harvey was brought in by his previous owner.

Why Harvey might be the one for you:
This handsome fella is Harvey! Harvey is looking for a nice calm home where he can lounge around and relax. He likes to go on leisurely walks, play with toys and hang with his people. Harvey is in a foster home where his foster reports that Harvey now wants at least 10 minutes of chest and belly rubs upon demand - that he really likes to be petted and cuddled. This is good as before Harvey was not so sure about pets and cuddles. Harvey has come far from being shy and fearful to being a cuddle bug. But, still, he will want people who can read his body language and respect his boundaries. Harvey has shown that he would prefer to be the king of his castle, which means he would do best in a family without other pets or young children (under 12). Do you want to spend 10 minutes several times a day to give Harvey belly rubs? If so, come and meet Harvey.

At SDHS:
Harvey has been vaccinated, microchipped and is neutered. He is now ready for his new home!

More about this shelter

San Diego Humane Society, an open-admission shelter, is creating a more humane world by inspiring compassion and advancing the welfare of animals and people. Our lifesaving safety net has helped San Diego become the largest city in the U.S. to keep healthy and treatable shelter animals from being euthanized. We are a private, independent, nonprofit organization that is not affiliated with any other humane society or society for the prevention of cruelty to animals.

With campuses in El Cajon, Escondido, Oceanside, Ramona and San Diego, we provide animal services for 14 cities within San Diego County. We not only care for 50,000 animals in our communities but also share the expertise we have gained through our innovative programs with shelters nationwide so they can save more lives in their communities.

While our influence is expanding nationally, our top priority is meeting the needs of San Diego. We provide exceptional care for all animals through world-class veterinary medicine, shelter and most of all: love.
