Rico is the kind of dog everyone wishes they had: calm, friendly, and absolutely wonderful with kids and other dogs. This medium-sized sweetie has zero attitude and approaches everyone with a gentle, submissive nature that makes him an instant hit. He loves splashing in water, playing with toys, and snuggling up for some quality time when the day's adventures are done.

Rico is an easy walker on the leash and just wants to make his people happy. He's still working on his potty training, but his eagerness to please and calm temperament make him a joy to work with. Rico is looking for a patient family who can appreciate his gentle soul and help him master those final house manners. We process your application in the order received. We'll contact you through call or email.

Visit the Facility and Find a Pet

Visit the facility via scheduled appt. and meet the the dog. If all seems like a good fit, the dog can go home on this day!

The application will come back up again during the final meet n greet, since check out and microchips rely on the same system where the applications are put in.

More about this rescue

Highland Lakes Canine Rescue was founded in 1999 as a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization by a group of folks who wanted to rescue homeless dogs from the Central Texas region and care for their health, rehabilitation and then to ultimately find these dogs a forever home uniting them with a newly adopted family. Initially HLCR started out as a foster only organization but over the 17 years has grown into it's own location with a kennel facility, outdoor pens, walking trails and staff and resident caretaker. An active and passionate group of staff and volunteers works tirelessly supporting HLCR and its mission.
