My personality

My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Health Status
✔ Neutered
✔ Fully vaccinated
✔ Microchipped
✔ Treated for Parasites
⟡ Undergoing treatment for heartworms

Meet Ozzy, a beautiful red heeler mix with a big, loving heart! He has great manners, social skills, is the kind of dog everyone dreams of having: gentle, well-behaved, and loves to show affection to his favorite people. He has a calm personality that makes him perfect for families who want a dog that knows how to relax and enjoy spending time together.

Ozzy gets along great with other dogs, so he would love having doggy friends at home or meeting new pals at the dog park. As a cattle dog mix, he's smart and loyal like his breed is known for, but he's not overly energetic or demanding. Ozzy is ready to be someone's best friend, whether that means taking easy walks, cuddling on the couch, or just being a sweet, faithful companion every day. This amazing boy is waiting for the perfect family to give him the loving forever home he deserves!

Ozzy is currently undergoing treatment for heartworms and is well on his way to a full recovery.

More about this rescue

Highland Lakes Canine Rescue was founded in 1999 as a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization by a group of folks who wanted to rescue homeless dogs from the Central Texas region and care for their health, rehabilitation and then to ultimately find these dogs a forever home uniting them with a newly adopted family. Initially HLCR started out as a foster only organization but over the 17 years has grown into it's own location with a kennel facility, outdoor pens, walking trails and staff and resident caretaker. An active and passionate group of staff and volunteers works tirelessly supporting HLCR and its mission.
