My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

How this pet arrived:
This pet was brought in by their previous owner.

Why this pet is the one for you:
Attention Spanish Speakers. We think Cali speaks Spanish. She is also use to teenagers and seems to like them!!! When you meet Cali, you just want to hug Cali. She is a big gal so she is a big hug. . She likes to be hugged. Staff describe Cali as a sweet and friendly dog who is outgoing with a playful personality that really shines when outside of her kennel. In our play yard, she gets the zoomies like crazy and makes everyone laugh. She likes to play half fetch which means that she loves to chase the ball but not so great about bringing it back. She is as smart as she is cuddly. She is very house trained. She does not bark much. She can do her own thing but absolutely loves people once she warms up to them which does not take much time. A consistent routine and fun, enriching activities will help Cali get used to her new home and feel like part of her family! Are you ready for a good dog who will make you laugh and love? Cali is ready - both in English and Spanish.

More about this shelter

San Diego Humane Society, an open-admission shelter, is creating a more humane world by inspiring compassion and advancing the welfare of animals and people. Our lifesaving safety net has helped San Diego become the largest city in the U.S. to keep healthy and treatable shelter animals from being euthanized. We are a private, independent, nonprofit organization that is not affiliated with any other humane society or society for the prevention of cruelty to animals.

With campuses in El Cajon, Escondido, Oceanside, Ramona and San Diego, we provide animal services for 14 cities within San Diego County. We not only care for 50,000 animals in our communities but also share the expertise we have gained through our innovative programs with shelters nationwide so they can save more lives in their communities.

While our influence is expanding nationally, our top priority is meeting the needs of San Diego. We provide exceptional care for all animals through world-class veterinary medicine, shelter and most of all: love.
