My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Meet Koco!

This adorable bunny was brought to the SPCA as a stray, and is now looking for her new forever home.

Koco takes a bit of time to warm up to new people and a new environment, but once she knows you she is friendly and playful. After some time in her foster home, she's a lot more comfortable around people and with being pet. She still doesn't enjoy being picked up, but she has become more tolerant of it. Koco has also gotten used to noises around the house, but she will still hide when it comes to the vacuum. She adores fresh veggies and will do anything for them! Her foster mentions that she is excited to explore the areas outside of her enclosure, so a home that would be open to allowing her to free-roam would be ideal.

Koco is almost entirely litterbox trained, and awaiting her spay surgery. She can go to her foster to adopt home in the mean time, but potential adopters should be aware that they will need to transport her to her appointment.

Do you think you could be Koco's person? Please submit an application online and we will be in touch with the first suitable family.

The BC SPCA is a non-profit organization dedicated to protecting and enhancing the quality of life for domestic, farm and wild animals in British Columbia. Through its locations and operations across the province the BC SPCA provides emergency medical care and sheltering for more than 37,000 animals each year. The society also conducts more than 4,600 cruelty investigations and provides a wide range of advocacy and education programs for domestic, farm and wild animals through its Provincial Office.

Our mission, vision and charter is at the heart of all we do to rescue, protect and care for animals. It is also the driving force behind our animal welfare and education programs.

    Our Charter:

The BC SPCA Charter is the foundation that guides the work we do:

    Whereas:

The world is inhabited by many species sharing a common ecosystem of air, earth, and water. We recognize and value our interconnectedness with all animals.

    Therefore:

The BC Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals is dedicated to protecting and enhancing the quality of life for the animals of the world we share.

We pledge our energies to inspire and mobilize society to create a world in which all animals, who depend on humans for their well-being, experience, as a minimum, five essential freedoms:

    1. Freedom from hunger and thirst

    2. Freedom from pain, injury, and disease

    3. Freedom from distress

    4. Freedom from discomfort

    5. Freedom to express behaviours that promote well-being.
