My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Current Location: Winchester, VA

Meet Boots

Boots is a black and white beauty with a whole lot of bounce and an even bigger heart. She’s the definition of a work in progress in all the best ways - part bold explorer, part shy sweetheart, and completely unforgettable once she feels safe.

This smart girl has energy to spare and a brain that’s always switched on. She’s very playful, full of personality, and picks things up quickly once she understands what’s being asked. She’s still learning the ropes but is eager to please and thrives on praise and treats. Boots is mostly housebroken, walking nicely on leash, and working hard on her crate training. She’s not a big fan of the crate yet, but she’s beginning to see it as her safe space.

Boots is also very attached to her people and does best when she has company throughout the day. She isn’t the type of dog who will quietly nap while you’re gone - she wants to be part of the action, right by your side.

She’ll shine in an active home with plenty of movement, laughter, and play. A family with kids or another playful dog would make her happiest. With structure, attention, and a little patience, this lively, affectionate girl will blossom into an incredible companion who will keep you smiling every single day.

Veterinary Care
Boots has visited the veterinarian for her health certificate, is up to date on age-appropriate vaccinations, spayed, microchipped, and receiving heartworm, flea, tick, and parasite prevention.

MEET AND GREETS

We primarily rely on meet & greets for potential adopters. Approved adopters may meet adoptable animals at the home of the animal's foster, or possibly in the adopter's own home.

More about this rescue

Operation Paws for Homes, Inc. rescues dogs of all breeds and ages from high-kill shelters reducing the numbers being euthanized daily. We provide foster homes where they can get the love and attention needed before finding their forever homes. Our organization provides pet adoption services in Virginia, Washington DC, Maryland, and parts of Southern Pennsylvania. Operation Paws for Homes, a 501(c)(3) organization, is 100% donor funded and could not save these dogs and fulfill their dreams of being united with their forever families, without the dedication of our incredible adopters, fosters, donors and volunteers. Sadly, without our help, all of these adoptable animals would face almost certain euthanasia - usually within days or hours of arriving at the shelter. Each year we take in hundreds of wonderful animals who were left at shelters by no fault of their own.
