My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Meet Jimin — A bundle of love and energy is seeking his forever home!

Jimin is an 8-month-old mystery mix with some strong Basenji vibes. When he first arrived, the rescue thought he might be a Whippet mix, and then maybe a Black Mouth Cur/Rhodesian Ridgeback. But his huge ears that never relaxed (they still stick straight up), his unique rolling vocalizations, and his limited shedding have his foster mom convinced that he’s a Basenji mix — and his elegant build and curious nature definitely fit the bill!

At about 32 lbs, Jimin is a slender, medium-sized pup with long legs and a zest for life. When he’s excited, he wags not just his tail but his whole body in a joyful wiggle. He loves to take a running leap off the back porch and zoom around the yard at top speed — he’s athletic, bendy, and loves to show it off!

Jimin is a young, curious, and very active dog, so he’ll thrive in a home that can give him plenty of exercise, playtime, and continued training. He’s also a fantastic fetch companion — it’s one of his favorite ways to burn off energy and bond with his humans.

He’s nearly potty trained and already knows the commands to sit, lay down, and “inside.” Smart boy!

Jimin currently lives with both dogs and cats. He adores his dog foster siblings (male and female, middle-aged) and takes a lot of cues on how to dog from them, which helps build his confidence, as he can be a little timid with new people and in new experiences. He does sometimes want to chase and bark at his cat siblings — they’re not big fans of this, so a home with dog-savvy cats (or no cats) might be best.

Like many pups his age, Jimin is still learning what’s his and what isn’t. He’s an opportunistic counter surfer and a fan of chewing things that get left within reach — so clutter doesn’t stand a chance on his watch! He also loves to do a bit of doggy parkour — bouncing off furniture and finding creative ways to navigate the world. It’s absolutely adorable for the right person, but could be a bit much for someone who prefers a more low-key pup.

Jimin is affectionate and loves to curl up on top of his humans for belly rubs, ear scratches, and kisses. Because he’s still a bit excitable, he may be too bouncy for very small children, but he’d make a fantastic companion for older kids, teens, or adults who enjoy an active lifestyle.

Jimin would love a forever family who:
- Has time and energy to keep up with a young, lively dog ???
- Will continue his training and help him blossom ?
- Can give him plenty of love, play, and snuggles ??
- Is ready to make daily fetch sessions part of their routine ?
- Doesn’t mind keeping counters clear and valuables out of reach ?
- Appreciates his athleticism and need for activity! ?

If Jimin sounds like the perfect match for you, fill out an adoption application today and let this sweet, wiggly boy steal your heart!

His adoption fee is $350.00. Please email us at projecthoperescue@gmail.com if you have questions about him or visit our website at www.projecthoperescue.org to fill out an adoption application.

Their adoption process

Additional adoption info

We require that the interested adopter come to meet the dog and then fill out an adoption application. We will review the application and then pass on to the dog's foster family (if applicable). We then contact the potential adopter's vet and we will also do a home visit. If all goes well, the adopter signs our adoption contract stating that, among other things, the dog will receive regular vet care and must be returned to us if things do not work out.

More about this rescue

We focus primarily on rescuing senior and special needs dogs in kill facilities. We are located on 30 acres of land in rural southern Michigan. We are a care-for-life facility, so any dog that does not or that we deem cannot be adopted will live with us for the rest of his/her life. Because we rescue the dogs that are not in high demand, it normally takes our dogs longer to find that perfect family. We believe that it takes a special family to adopt our special dogs.
