🍿 Meet Popcorn! 🍿

Popcorn is a 4–5 month old pup with a name that fits him perfectly — he’s light, bouncy, and guaranteed to make you smile. He was found dumped with no one waiting for him, but you’d never know it from his cheerful spirit. This little guy has decided that every new day is worth wagging about.

Smart, curious, and incredibly treat-motivated, Popcorn is quick to learn and always ready for his next adventure (or snack). He’s still finishing up some medication for a mild skin infection, but he’s feeling better every day and can’t wait to trade shelter life for a soft bed and a family of his own.

We’re accepting pre-approval applications now, so once he’s cleared by our vet, he’ll be ready to head home!

Additional adoption info

Our adoption fees for dogs includes spay/neuter, age appropriate vaccines, de-wormer, flea and tick prevention, heart worm prevention, heart worm tested, and microchip registration.

Adult Dogs: $200
Puppies: $225

Cat adoption fees include spay/neuter, age appropriate vaccines, de-wormer, FIV/FeLV testing, flea and tick prevention, and microchip registration.

Adult Cats: $75 (or $125 for a pair)
Kittens: $90 (or $150 for a pair)

Since 1979, the Effingham County Humane Society has been committed to serving Effingham County, IL and the surrounding area. We are located in the former Funkhouser School, and our non-profit shelter is sustained by volunteers, fundraising, contributions, and adoption fees.

The goal of the Effingham County Humane Society is to reduce animal suffering in our county through educating and promoting responsible pet ownership, including spaying/neutering pets, appropriate pet identification, proper pet care, and the quality adoption of homeless pets.
