My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Every cat rescue needs a little drama king, and Frodo has proudly claimed that crown. With his slightly flattened ears, big “I’m silently judging you” eyes, and one perfectly placed white patch on his chest, this sleek black gentleman is serving mysterious hero energy 24/7. Don’t be fooled by that permanent scowl, though—beneath that “too cool for you” look beats the heart of a clever, cautious kitten who just needs time (and maybe a Churu treat or two) to warm up.

Frodo is about 12–16 weeks old, neutered, microchipped, vaccinated, and litter-box trained—so he’s ready for his forever quest (er, home). He does great with other cats, is learning that dogs aren’t actually monsters, and would love to be adopted with his mom (Jane) or one of his siblings (David or Flint).

Fun fact: Frodo was the last of his family to be caught when rescued from a restaurant parking lot—because he’s smart, skeptical, and apparently part ninja. He’s now fostered in Huntsville, AL, and can travel up to two hours for the right (and patient) human.

Frodo will do best in an adult-only home with another friendly cat to show him the ropes. Once he decides you’re worthy of his affection, he’ll be your loyal, if slightly judgmental, little adventurer forever.

If you’ve ever looked at a cat and thought, “I want one that looks like he’s plotting an epic quest—and maybe my downfall—but in a totally adorable way,” Frodo is your guy.

Go meet their pets

Our adoptable animals are fostered in loving homes throughout Huntsville, Alabama and the surrounding area. Because we do not operate a physical shelter, meet-and-greets are arranged by appointment only—typically after an adoption application has been submitted and approved.

More about this rescue

Friends of Rescue is headquartered in Huntsville, Alabama with transport locations throughout the Great Lakes and New England. FOR is a volunteer-run, 501(c)(3) nonprofit founded in 2009.

Our mission is to save adoptable dogs and cats from overcrowded Southern shelters where limited space, minimal funding, and high intake rates often lead to euthanasia.

We are not professional trainers or animal behaviorists—just dedicated individuals working together to give these animals a second chance. Every pet in our program lives in a loving foster home and receives age-appropriate veterinary care while awaiting adoption.

Our ultimate goal is to match each animal with a committed, compassionate individual or family who will provide a FORever home.
