Are your love languages quality time and physical touch? Keep reading to learn more about the famous Baby Girl if so!
Never too far from her favorite humans, this lady loves following you wherever you go. She’s a happy girl, and her constant purring will prove that.
Baby Girl is a very special lady! She is a wobbly kitty (diagnosed with cerebellar hypoplasia) but she has climbed on and off her foster's couch & bed in her foster home without issues- she does so very carefully! She would do best in a home with little to no stairs to be safest, though. Her current foster home has 3 steps up to the kitchen, and she doesn’t have any issue (slowly) going up them to watch her foster mom cook dinner.
Baby Girl became very anemic and had low white blood cells (neutrophils) a few weeks after her arrival at PAWS. Both of these conditions improve while she is on steroids, but relapse if the steroids are stopped or decreased, making it likely that this is an autoimmune condition. We suspect that Baby Girl has IMHA, or Immune-Mediated Hemolytic Anemia. This means that her body is attacking her red blood cells and neutrophils before they reach maturity. Ask PAWS staff for more information about this condition! As a result of her anemia, though, our vet team has determined that it is not safe to sedate Baby Girl for spay at this time, so Baby Girl must go to a home where she will remain indoors-only and away from other unfixed cats. The latter is not too tough, though, since Baby Girl seems to vastly prefer being the only kitty in the home anyway!
Baby Girl currently takes a steroid liquid mouth twice a day to control her anemia levels. She is also taking a medication called fluconazole until mid-January for a non-contagious skin condition, which leaves some mild crusting on her little nose! We expect treatment to wrap up in January 2026. Her foster mom hasn’t had any issues administering either medication - she takes them like a champ!
