My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

I’m energetic and goofy, cuddly and kissy, and there is nothing I like more than being chased!

I need slow introductions to new people and I bark initially upon meeting, but after getting to know someone, I am so friendly and sweet. I like my crate and I enjoy chewing on bones and sticks. I also like taking socks to my crate when nobody is looking. I'm a big puppy and scared of new situations and do best with a dog friend to help me feel safe. I love dogs but I can, occassionally, be selective. I want to play with cats but they don't understand my play bows. I am a sweet girl who just needs time, patience and training to be all that I can be!

General Socialization Notes:
I am playful, enthusiastic, energetic, and great in a car until I see a person or a person with a dog out the window, then you will hear my big bark. I react on a leash to people, dogs and wildlife and have been working on meeting people with one of my dog friends at my dog daycare. Play is my biggest reward and I love playing with my friends. Once I trust a person, I'm very affectionate but it does take me time.

Does Zara like other animals?
I am reactive on a leash when I encounter dogs and wildlife. I'm getting better at not reacting to people. I get along with my male dog friends at daycare and live with two chihuahuas, a shepherd mix, and four cats. Introductions need to be done in a proper way to ensure my success. I can be pushy with housemates with getting attention and I like to take all the toys for myself.

Does Zara like children?
I don't currently have any kids to play with, but with my enthusiasm, it might be best if I'm with kids over 8, just so everyone is safe in play.

Favorite Toys:
I enjoy playing with and chewing on a variety of items, such as sticks, bully sticks, tug toys, and stuffed animals.

Ideal Forever Home:
My ideal home would be one where I receive regular attention, exercise, and mental stimulation. I learn quickly and already know cues such as sit, down, touch, and crate. I would be a good companion for a male dog, but I could be the only dog in a household and be fine too. I need an experienced dog owner to setup introductions to new people and dogs and continue working with me on my confidence.
