Hi there! I’m Toto — a 1-year-old, 5-pound Maltese boy who’s still wondering why my forever family hasn’t found me yet. I may be tiny, but my heart (and energy!) are huge! I love zooming around the house, playing with toys, and being right by your side. I’m what you might call a “total puppy” — curious, bouncy, and full of life.
I’m currently in my foster home in Georgia, where I spend my days playing and my nights cuddled up in bed with my foster mom. Yep, I sleep in the human bed because that’s where I feel safest and happiest! I also love being held — it’s my favorite thing.
I get along really well with other dogs, though I’ll admit that big dogs can be a little intimidating because, well, I’m only 5 pounds! My foster home doesn’t have any cats, so no one knows quite how I’d do around them yet. I’m still working on my house training — I’m a young guy and learning fast with a little help and patience.
Because of my small size and playful puppy energy, my ideal home would be with someone experienced with tiny dogs who understands how to keep me safe and happy.
Medical Update:
I have a condition called cryptorchidism, which means one or both of my testicles didn’t descend properly. It’s a genetic condition, and to avoid putting me at risk with invasive surgery, SCMR decided not to proceed with neutering. My adopter must understand this condition and agree to keep me away from any females in heat. My adoption contract will include a requirement that I never be used for breeding.
Other than that, I’m healthy, happy, and not on any medications!
Even though I’m just a year old, I fall under SCMR’s Seniors for Seniors policy — which means our rescue is proud to consider adopters who are 70+ years old for rescues age 7 and up. While I’m a young pup myself, SCMR encourages everyone to also think about adopting one of our amazing senior dogs. They have so much love to give and truly make a house feel like home.
So… what do you say? I’m ready to bring joy, cuddles, and lots of zoom-zoom energy into your life. Could you be the one I’ve been waiting for?
— Love, Toto
