My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Every outlaw gang’s got that one member who’s always two steps ahead, tail waggin’, eyes gleamin’, and lookin’ for the next great adventure. That’s Rose Dunn—a pint-sized pioneer with more curiosity than a raccoon in a pantry and enough confidence to convince you that you absolutely need her...which you do. But for all her bravado, she’s got a heart big enough to lasso the whole prairie. She loves her people, adores attention, and gives affection like she’s handing out gold nuggets. Her happy tail is a metronome of joy, thumping along to her own little outlaw tune. So if you’re lookin’ for a fearless explorer with a dash of sass and a heap of heart, Rose Dunn is ready to ride. She’s the kind of pup who’ll turn every day into an adventure, every walk into a story, and every cuddle into a promise that life’s always brighter with a little fun. Saddle up, folks—this rose may be small, but she’s got the spirit of the whole wild frontier in her wag. 🌵💖

At just 6 weeks old and a dainty 5 pounds, this gal may be small, but she’s got the kind of personality that could make a cowboy forget his horse and follow her anywhere. She’s a Border Collie mix—possibly with a bit of Lab sprinkled in for good measure—and she’s got the perfect balance of brains, bravery, and irresistible puppy nonsense. Born right here in rescue after her mama, Belle Starr, came to us heavily pregnant after sittin’ on the urgent list in the shelter, Rose never knew the hardships of the trail. Instead, she’s grown up surrounded by love, safety, and enough snuggles to fill a saddlebag.

Rose Dunn’s social circle is about as wide as the prairie itself—she loves dogs, loves kids, and basically assumes every living thing she meets is just another potential fan. She’s the type to trot right up to the biggest dog in town with zero hesitation, tail waggin’ like she’s saying, “Howdy, let's be friends.” Most pups warm up to her pretty quick, probably because resistance is futile when she flashes that “I’m adorable and I know it” grin. When it comes to kids, Rose is all in. She sees them as perfect partners for playtime, snack-sharing, and cuddles. Now, cats? Well, she hasn’t officially filed a report on those suspicious little furballs, but based on her personality, we’ve got a solid guess. Rose would probably start off polite—curious sniff, maybe a friendly wag—before deciding the cat looks like a fine new playmate. Whether the cat agrees or not is, uh, secondary to her enthusiasm. In Rose’s mind, everyone’s just a potential best friend who hasn’t accepted it yet. In short, this little cowgirl’s an equal-opportunity social butterfly. Dogs, kids, cats, tumbleweeds—she’s not picky. As long as they move, breathe, or can be convinced to play, Rose Dunn’s ridin’ up to say hello, tail high and heart wide open.

Rose Dunn might only clock in at a 2 outta 10 on the energy scale, but don’t let that fool you—she’s not lazy, she’s just strategically efficient. Why waste good energy when you can let your siblings do all the running, then stroll in at the end to claim all the glory? She’s what we like to call “leadership material,” meaning she supervises the chaos rather than participates in it. She’s Miss Explore-Everything, but don’t picture frantic zoomies or wild puppy chaos—oh no, Rose takes exploration at her own pace. She struts through life like she’s conducting a land survey, tail wagging like a victory flag the whole way. Every new thing she discovers immediately becomes hers—whether that’s a patch of grass, a chew toy, or your lap. Rose has the calm confidence of a seasoned cowgirl who’s seen it all and decided it’s nothing to bark about. The tumbleweeds roll, the pups wrestle, the world spins—and there’s Rose, unbothered, observing it all with a knowing look that says, “Bless their hearts.”

Now, don’t go ridin’ off into the sunset thinkin’ Rose Dunn is just gonna trot into your life housebroken, well-mannered, and ready to fold the laundry. She may look like a perfect little prairie angel, but partner—she’s still a puppy, which means her new family better be ready to roll up their sleeves and join the rodeo. First up: potty trainin’. Yep, that glamorous frontier adventure where you stand outside at 6 a.m. in your pajamas whisperin’ desperate prayers that she’ll “go potty” before your coffee goes cold. Then comes socialization, which is fancy talk for “introducin’ your new outlaw to the world without lettin’ her turn into a recluse.” Rose Dunn may be a little outlaw now, but with the right family ridin’ beside her, she’ll grow into the kind of loyal, steady companion that makes every muddy pawprint and midnight potty trip worth it. So saddle up, partner—this adventure’s a wild one, but the reward’s pure gold. 🌵🐾

Now, let’s talk logistics, partner. Rose won’t be ready to saddle up and ride home until around the first weekend in November, ‘cause she’s still growin’, learnin’, and fine-tunin’ her outlaw skills. But that gives you just enough time to dust off your boots, puppy-proof your homestead, and mentally prepare for a whole lotta adorable fun.

If you’re ready to welcome a happy-go-lucky little cowgirl who’ll fill your days with laughter, love, and just enough silliness to keep things interesting, then don’t just stand there holdin’ your hat—fill out that adoption application at https://www.pyrpawsandfluffytailsrescue.com/adoption-app quicker than a tumbleweed in a windstorm. Once it’s approved, we’ll send it right over to her foster family so they can get the wagon wheels rollin’.

You’ll need to ride on over to Oklahoma City, OK to pick her up—no home delivery, no horse-and-buggy transport, just a good old-fashioned road trip to meet the most charming outlaw west of the Mississippi. Trust us, once you meet Rose Dunn, you won’t wanna ride back home without her. 💕🐾
