My personality

My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Bootsie is a 2yrs old Morky (maltese/yorkshire terrier). He weighs 11 lbs. His coat is non shed.
He certainly would be an excellent to another dog because he is playful, loves other dogs, very social and submissive to them. He is a very gentle, affectionate little guy, a lap dog. He is equally “famously” social with people of all ages and both genders, does not know a stranger and loves men as much as women!

He also suits living anywhere because he has no hang ups about anything, no fear of people or noisy surroundings such as heavy traffic, he is leash trained, great on leash, non-reactive at all to strangers and other dogs. He is quiet and does not bark, so this makes him very suitable for an apartment living. He is working on his housebreaking skills and catching on. He is quite smart, learned the command “sit” very quickly. He is good in his crate overnight and if he wants out, whimpers quietly and quiets down went told. He is obedient, not stubborn and he already has a good recall.

In a nutshell, he is a very easy little fellow to care for, easy going and so adaptable, who has a very well balanced temperament and personality, a totally adorable and lovable little gem.

More about Bootsie:
Bootsie was owner surrendered, a case of a senior lady owning several dogs (7), no longer able to care for them and had to be moved to a long-term care facility. Her daughter managed to find adopters for 6 of them and contacted our rescue to take Bootsie in. Although the lady obviously loved her dogs and took as good care of them as she could, (as they are very well socialized and loving towards all humans and also gentle with other dogs, they were in a good physical and mental shape), but none of them were housebroken, altered, or vaccinated.

Upon its arrival in our rescue's care, a little over a week ago, Bootsie has been vet checked, neutered, and vaccinated, bathed and groomed. He is ready to go to his forever home.

More about this rescue

Home Sweet Home Dog Rescue has been in existence since 2013. We rescue from rural areas, small towns pounds and shelters outside the Ontario borders where adoption are few and far in between and euthanasia rates are still very high. Prior to Covid, we pulled dogs mainly from the US. Since rescues could no longer access the CA/US borders, we started doing overseas rescue, mainly from Egypt and neighbouring countries, where the need is tragically gigantic.
