Cameo arrived at the shelter as a stray and is a 7-year-old sweetheart who truly shines once you get to know her. She’s calm, affectionate, and a joy to spend time with—especially if you love leisurely walks and cozy cuddle sessions. On leash, Cameo walks politely on a mostly loose lead, isn’t reactive to passing people, and is easy to redirect if she shows interest in other dogs. She knows “sit,” takes treats gently, and is wonderfully attentive to her handler.
Cameo had a special Dog’s Day Out adventure to a lake, where her favorite part was taking in all the new smells. She was a little shy at first, but her sweet nature quickly won over everyone she met. She happily accepted pets, gave gentle kisses, and soaked up all the snuggles. While she was a bit nervous in the car, she handled the outing well overall and clearly enjoyed her time outside the shelter.
Now in a temporary foster home, Cameo continues to show what a loving, well-mannered girl she is. Her foster describes her as obedient, gentle, and incredibly affectionate. She has a strong cuddly side and loves resting her head on her foster’s lap when relaxing. When meeting new friends, she greets them with a happy, wiggly body and polite curiosity.
Cameo is very people-oriented and tends to form a strong bond with one person. She is still working on housetraining and crate training, and her foster has noticed that Cameo can get a bit anxious when left alone but she is still settling into her foster home. Her foster is actively working on management and comfort strategies, and with time, patience, and continued guidance, Cameo is expected to keep making progress.
She enjoys long daily walks (often over three miles!) and has low-to-moderate energy overall, with a bit of pep in the early evenings. One of her favorite enrichment activities is a soft toy where kibble can be hidden—perfect for her gentle mouth and curious brain.
Cameo has met other dogs at the shelter and can be selective with her friends, but she can also be bouncy and playful with dogs she likes. She would thrive in a home that enjoys close companionship, structured routines, and helping a loving dog feel safe and secure.

Step 3: Tour our adoption rooms and write down the names of animals that you would like to meet. A volunteer or staff member will help you meet your chosen animals to make a match!
Step 4: When you have selected the right animal for you, our Adoptions Team will run your Adoption Application for approval. Once your application is approved, you will participate in an adoption class where you will learn all of the details about your new adopted family member, including their known history and medical records.
What else to expect: Animals who are already spayed/neutered and past their stray hold (if applicable) can often go home with you the same day. Pick-up arrangements for unaltered animals and/or animals still on a stray hold will be made during your adoption class.

We are an open admission shelter, granting refuge to every abandoned, neglected, abused, lost or surrendered animal that comes through our door.
