My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

I`m in a FOSTER HOME! If you would like to set up a time to meet with me, please email my foster parent at emmapcohn@gmail.com

Meet Takis, the coolest girl on the block. While she`s not quite at snuggle-in-your-lap levels of affection (yet!), she is always in the mood for plenty of pets and will happily keep you company on the couch. Her hobbies include running up to you at the door when you get home for work, lying half a foot away but keeping one paw on your leg to remind you of her presence, and ingeniously cheating puzzle feeders to get to the treats faster. She also LOVES to play fetch! Who needs a dog when you’ve got this sweet kitty? To learn more about this adorable girl, please contact her foster at emmapcohn@gmail.com.

More about this shelter

At the Humane Rescue Alliance, we honor more than 150 years of commitment to protecting animals, supporting families, and advocating for positive change to create a world where all animals can thrive. HRA serves as a national leader and local champion for all animals.

With a people-focused, community-based approach, we treat every animal as an individual and emphasize specialized care for both animals and their families. Through our two campuses in the District of Columbia and New Jersey, we are the largest animal services provider in our region – touching the lives of tens of thousands of animals annually through direct rescue, care, and community-based services. Our teams find solutions to both small and big problems, from providing direct care to an animal in crisis to tackling systemic barriers to affordable, pet-friendly housing.
