My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Meet Buzz-Heart as Big as His Personality!

Born: July 10, 2025 | Weight: 13lbs | Male | Breed: German Shorthair Mix

Buzz is spunky, playful, and always ready for a good time — unless it’s snuggle o’clock, in which case he’s the first of his siblings to curl up for some cuddle time. He’s a total foster mom’s shadow and loves being right by her side, soaking up all the affection he’s recently discovered is the best thing ever!

Don’t let his puppy mischief fool you — Buzz is a quick learner! He mastered “sit” in just a few hours and takes gentle corrections like a pro. He’s working on those puppy basics still, but he gives training his all. He’s great with kids and big dogs, though he hasn’t met any cats or small pets at this time. Crate training may take some time, since he hasn’t been separated from his siblings, but he hasn’t had any accidents in his crate yet!

His greatest nemesis? Any toy that dares to squeak. His greatest strength? His ability to melt hearts with those puppy kisses.

Buzz is attentive, trainable, and full of love — the perfect mix of fun and affection. If you’re looking for a loyal adventure buddy who doubles as a world-class snuggler, Buzz might just be your guy!

Our standard adoption fee is $375 if paid by cash or check, or $385 if paid by credit card (which includes a $10 processing fee). This fee covers spay/neuter surgery when age appropriate at one of our participating veterinarians, age-appropriate core vaccinations, fecal testing, deworming, flea and tick preventative, and microchipping.

In order to be considered for adoption, we require a fully completed application, a phone interview, and a meet-and-greet with your entire family. Please note that submitting an application does not commit you to adopting and does not guarantee approval—it simply allows us to begin the review process.

If you are interested in adopting or would like additional information, please email us at adopt@safehavendogsIL.org to request an application.

Keep in mind that the breed and size listed in each dog's biography are our best educated guesses and are not guaranteed.

Safe Haven Dog Rescue reserves the right to refuse the adoption of any dog or puppy to any applicant for any reason.
