My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Phoebe is around 1.5 years old and is very timid and scared of people. She walks well on a leash. She barks when you walk away from her, not because she wants you back, but because she is protective of her space. When you enter her kennel, she cowers in the corner. You can pet her, but she does not enjoy it--she merely tolerates it. She does well with confident dogs, but with scared or insecure dogs, she becomes protective of them. This looks like her barking more at humans when they come near the yard she is in. She will do best in a home with another confident dog that she can learn from. She's never had an accident when inside the shelter offices. We are looking for someone who can give Phoebe time to learn to trust humans and relax enough to enjoy life. She will require a securely fenced area as she will be a flight risk for a while after her adoption. She was spayed on 8/12 and is ready to find a foster home. Phoebe is not ready for adoption yet, but could be after a successful foster situation!
