My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

I love to be loved! My name is Ginny, and I am a Shepherd/lab mix and a sweetheart all the way through. I am so happy when I have someone to play with me and who will throw balls and toys that I can chase. When I play outside, I can spin around in circles and fling a toy fly in the air so that I can chase it and then go lay on my bed an take a big nap.

I love a Kong with frozen yogurt or peanut butter and chew sticks.  I am 1 year old and about 42 lbs, walk like a very good girl on the leash, and am so smart that I became crate trained in 4 days. I follow my foster mom around the house, so I don’t miss out on anything that is happening. New adventures are so much fun. I like new places to go for a walk, hike, and car rides. I need to be lifted into SUV’s or trucks because they are too high. My foster mom thinks I am extra adorable when I tilt my head to the side and watch planes fly over in the sky or when I just sit outside and sniff the air with my eyes closed and my nose way up in the air.

I am dog friendly. I like to get the zoomies and run around, so I need a fenced yard. My foster mom hasn’t had me around cats, so I’m not sure if I like them.

I can be super mouthy when I want something, so an active family who has experience with active energetic dogs would be the best fit for me!

I will be so grateful for a loving home that I will be your best buddy for life.

If you are interested in adopting/meeting this pup , please complete our online adoption application that you can find here: https://www.starfishanimalrescue.com/adopt/dog-adoption-application  . Your application will be reviewed by our team and if it is a good fit, we will send to the foster family to set up a meet!

The adoption fee of $400 will include spay/neuter, microchip, age appropriate/required vaccinations, treatment for heartworm and any other necessary medical treatment to assure a healthy new pup for your family. IMPORTANT DISCLAIMER: Although we do our best to describe breed, since our pups all come from shelters we can not and will not make any guarantee on breed or size. We can tell you that they are 100% RESCUED! And that is the BEST breed!

*please note that we are a foster home based rescue and we do home visits as part of the adoption process - we are unable to adopt to families who live outside of the Chicago and surrounding suburbs. Thank you for your understanding.

Go meet their pets

We are not a shelter. We are a group of pet lovers and advocates who are committed to targeted rescue. Starfish Animal Rescue is a licensed rescue that is run by an all volunteer staff.
Once we rescue a dog or cat, it is placed in one of our foster homes until we are able to find it a suitable home. We are happy to set up an appointment to meet our pets once we receive and review your completed application.

We do our best to process applications quickly but please understand that we are a foster based rescue and that our volunteers work jobs; many are full time. Sending in a completed application is the best way to facilitate this process. You can go on our website www.starfishanimalrescue.com and download an application
Once your application is reviewed, we will put you in contact with the dog's foster family to set up a time to meet the pet of your choice!
Thank you for supporting our rescue and what we are trying to accomplish in southeastern Kentucky.
