Here's what the humans have to say about me:
Meet me – your next playful, curious, and incredibly sweet companion! My foster parents say my happy bounces around the yard remind them of Tigger! I'm a handsome, soft-coated German Shepherd, around 2 years old and 60-65 lbs of pure love.
I thrive on human connection and am very food motivated, making training a breeze. I've quickly learned basic commands like sit, wait, and down, and I'm fully kennel trained. I'm always gentle with treats and eager to please you!
Given my zest for life, a family with children aged 7 or older would be a great fit for me. I'm a curious fellow who might peek onto counters, but I have good kitchen manners, I promise! Keeping my playful puppy energy balanced with lots of exercise and mental stimulation helps me be my best self.
I enjoy the company of other German Shepherds, and with continued socialization, I'm good with other large dogs in the home. Currently, my foster parents recommend no small dogs (or cats) due to my strong prey drive. On the flip side, I'm a big fan of car rides!
My love for chasing wild animals means my foster parents use a GPS collar for off-leash adventures, and they suggest a fenced yard would be ideal for my safety and enjoyment.
If you're looking for a loyal, intelligent, and fun-loving German Shepherd ready to join your family's adventures (and snuggle on the couch!), let's connect!

More about this rescue
Founded in 2005, we are a volunteer home-based rescue group run by dedicated volunteers. Our dogs live in volunteer homes as family members with the same love, care and attention they would receive in an adoptive home.
We provide training, socialization, vet care and evaluation for all of the dogs in our care. All of our dogs are vaccinated, microchipped, and spayed or neutered prior to adoption.
GSDRI is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization licensed by the state of Iowa.
