Meet Big Hoss – The Hug-Loving Gentle Giant
Big Hoss is a 3-year-old buff tabby with a big heart and an even bigger personality! This handsome, affectionate boy loves to chat, give hugs, and soak up all the attention he can get. If you’re looking for a cat who truly adores people, Big Hoss is your guy!
He was diagnosed with Feline Leukemia (FeLV) about a year ago, but has remained happy and healthy since. While FeLV has no cure and can shorten a cat’s lifespan, it’s not contagious to dogs or people, and there are vaccines available to protect FeLV-negative cats.
Because of his diagnosis, Big Hoss would need to be the only cat or live with other FeLV-positive cats. To make sure he gets the love and comfort he deserves, we’re open to a “Forever Foster” home — meaning he can be spoiled in a home environment while the rescue continues to provide for any medical care he may need in the future.
Big Hoss has so much love to give and deserves a special someone to share it with.
If you think you might be that person, please reach out — this incredible boy is ready to fill your heart and your lap!
Please remember: Unless otherwise specified, all our kittens and cats are strictly indoor pets.
If you’re interested in adoption, please visit straylovefoundation.org and complete an adoption application.
Every rescue in our care receives comprehensive vetting, which includes:
We take every possible step to ensure their health and happiness, giving them the best chance at a long, fulfilling life.
While we do everything in our power to provide healthy rescues, it's important to note that some animals may have genetic health conditions we cannot predict (since we don’t have their family history). Additionally, medical tests—though highly reliable—can occasionally yield false negatives. Unexpected health issues may arise, either before or after adoption, but thanks to our thorough vetting process, the likelihood of a long and healthy life is very high.

This organization is committed to providing a positive adoption experience! Learn more.
Submit Application
We have an application process to assure that adopters understand the commitment. Our base adoption donation is $148 but may ask more.
Interview
Our applications are detailed so that we have the information we need to make sure our rescues go into safe, loving permanent homes.
Meet the Pet
A meet and greet is always necessary to be sure the chemistry between adoptive family or person is compatible.
Interview
We interview not only their references and vet but also the responsible parties if something happens to them.
Approve Application
Once application is approved we still want to be sure that they understand that this is a long term commitment.
Home Check
Home checks are not always conducted, especially for cats & kittens but for dogs, we always want to check to be sure fences are in order.
Take the Pet Home
We understand that sometimes a new pet does not work out no matter how hard we try. We will always take our rescues back.
