10/28/25 Foster Feedback: Byron came into rescue along with several other dogs as part of a breeder release. These dogs appeared to have had very little human interaction, and Byron was especially fearful at first. Despite this, he has made remarkable progress.
When Byron first arrived, he was reluctant to leave his crate. Now, he spends most of the day outside of it, choosing to rest inside only at night with the crate door open. He’s been using piddle pads if needed during the night.
Initially, Byron would shrink away from any attempt to pet him. Now, he sniffs my hand and allows gentle petting. He’s even begun taking high-value treats directly from my hand—a big step forward in building trust.
Byron is not yet comfortable walking on a leash, so we stay within the safety of a fenced yard. We've been working together to build his confidence outdoors, and he’s showing signs of curiosity and continued improvement.
Although still fearful, Byron has never shown aggression toward me or my resident animals.
