Foster Home Feedback

9/30/25 Volunteer Feedback: I took Shrimp for a few hours on Saturday to help out his foster. He is AMAZING. Shrimp is a perfectly mannered gentleman. He walked loose leash the entire time, gently took treats offered (you couldn't even tell he was grabbing it unless his floppy lips touched your hand!), and let everyone that wanted to pet him. He sits or lays so nicely in the car, he will sit up front if you will let him, but if you stop petting him he will paw at your arm until you start again. We went to the botanical gardens, First Avenue Market, Scheels, and the mall and no matter what he was perfect. It didn't matter if it was a man, woman, child, or senior that came up, he let everyone pet him and interact with him. Shrimp saw a couple of other dogs when out walking and he perked up at them but never reacted or tried to go towards them. He also listens super well to "Leave it" when he's sniffing something super intently.

9/10/25 Volunteer Feedback: What a gentle giant Shrimp is! He was absolutely perfect—no issues at all. He let me put on his harness without any fuss, walked beautifully on a loose leash the entire time, and didn’t react to anything around him. Shrimp takes treats so gently, it’s heartwarming. Even when he got a little burst of zoomies (which was adorable!), he remained aware of me and was careful not to bump into me. Shrimp truly is the sweetest big boy!

9/2/25 Volunteer Feedback: Shrimp is truly a gem. This big, lovable boy has a gentle soul and a calm demeanor that makes him a joy to be around. Whether he’s lounging around or soaking in human attention, Shrimp radiates warmth and kindness. He’s incredibly well-behaved and walks like a dream. Shrimp’s affectionate nature and easygoing personality make him a wonderful fit for any home. If you’re looking for a loyal companion who brings peace, love, and a whole lot of heart, Shrimp would love to meet you!

** Shrimp is Lyme positive. This is a tick-borne illness, and he is currently being treated with

Their adoption process

Additional adoption info

There is a pre-adoption application, reference check, and home visit required prior to adopting an animal. There is an adoption donation/fee applied to all dogs. This fee ranges from $100-150. These fees help cover the veterinary care we have provided for the animals while they wait for homes. The fee also helps pay for the food and other general care we provide for the dogs. You must be 21 yrs or older to adopt a dog and can not live in a an area where there are dog breed bans. We do adopt to homes outside on the area, but there are special requirements for out of state adopters.

Go meet their pets

We regularly have "Meet the Dogs!" events at the West Fargo PetSmart store. These events will give you the opportunity to meet some of the dogs we have available for adoption and to visit with our volunteers. See our website for schedule dates/times.
