My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website.

Leo is a four year old, neutered male Great Pyrenees mix. He weighs about 75lbs. He has lived with smaller dogs, gets along with other dogs if introduced slowly and respectfully. He has been around cats, but they hid, so no actual interaction. He barked a few times at horses, but mostly just watches them. Leo hasn’t not been around children.
Like all LGDs, he barks, and since he has always lived in neighborhoods, this can be a problem. Would be better in a setting without close neighbors.
Also he has guarding tendencies, Leo is suspicious of strangers, especially men, and will bark pretty ferociously at interlopers real or imagined near his fence line. Visitors are advised to ignore him entirely and cueing him to go lie down. After a while, he will cautiously approach for a sniff. Once he decides someone isn't a threat, he is a huge cuddle bug. Will head butt and lean on you for more pets and will snuggle up close to you if you sit down on the ground.
Walks on lead, been hiking lately on regular basis, again dogs approaching him should be respectful of his space.
He will let you groom and bathe him, not wild about toenails being clipped, but will let you. He likes water or mud, whichever is handy !
He needs a dental and may have food allergies, though never tested. Noticed skin issues and so currently eating Purina Pro Plan's Sensitive Skin & Stomach salmon formula and have not noticed any problems.

Go meet their pets

Life Savers Animal Rescue has no physical shelter. Animals are housed in foster homes, so in order to meet a dog, an online application must first be completed and processed and approved. Then a meet and greet will be arranged. This process may be delayed should there be many applicants for one dog, so your patience is appreciated.
