My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Say hello to Diglet!

He is a 9 year old Chocolate Lab mix who weighs 80 pounds. Diglet is a social butterfly who loves spending time with his favorite people and is quick to warm up to strangers. With a ball or his favorite treats he is your best friend in no time! Diglet loves going on walks and exploring the world around him, but he is just as happy to take a nap on the couch or curl up in the sun.

Diglet seems uncomfortable with other dogs, so he would likely need to be the only dog in his forever home to ensure that he feels safe and comfortable. He also seems very intense with cats, so he would need a home with no cats or other small animals. Since he is such a social boy with people, he shows potential to live in a home with kids ages 10 and older, and may show potential with younger kids as well. He is a handsome boy who can`t wait to find his forever family!

If Diglet looks like the pup for you, stop in today to meet this handsome boy!

Their adoption process

Additional adoption info

All of our adoptable animals are up-to-date on all age appropriate vaccinations, spayed or neutered, de-wormed, de-flea and microchipped before adoptions are finalized. All dogs over six months of age receive a temperament assessment by our Certified Professional Dog Trainer to ensure appropriate placement. Also, many animals in our care receive basic obedience training to improve manners and increase adoptability.

We are currently doing adoptions by appointment only. Please contact us by phone at (234) 212-9843 or email at adoptions@summithumane.org, and an adoption counselor will return your message. They will review our adoption process, answer any questions, and tell you more about the animals currently available for adoption at our shelter and in our foster program. If we have a match for you and your family, an appointment will be scheduled to meet the animal.

Additional questions can be directed to our adoption team at (234) 212-9843.

More about this shelter

Since 1968, the Humane Society of Summit County (HSSC) has been the trusted caretaker and advocate for Summit County’s victims of animal abuse, neglect, and abandonment and stray animals suffering from illness and injury. We employ two full-time Humane Officers who respond to emergency calls, investigate animal cruelty, and, as warranted, prosecute offenders. We protect and care for our community’s abused, discarded, and forgotten animals. We strive every day to rehabilitate our rescued animals, find them great homes, and provide them with bright futures.
