My name is Bobo and I am a white & black american bulldog mix. I am a neutered male and I am 6 months old. I am here because I was given up by my owner on 10/21/2025 because they were moving and couldn`t take me along. They were my family for 4 months. I am used to staying inside during the day and inside during the night. I am potty trained. I am a high energy dog and I can live with an owner with no prior pet owning experience. I have not been kept in a crate/kennel before while my owners were gone, but I could learn. I will sometimes walk nicely on the leash and sometimes pull, so that is something else I am still learning. There are lots of things you can do to get me to walk comfortably and safely on a leash. I would do well with simple obedience training to help us bond and for us to learn how to communicate with each other. I do not have a history of trying to escape the home or yard, but the shelter staff always recommends owners be mindful that I do not accidentally get out a door or escape the yard. I would like a standard height fence to help keep me inside the yard. I can be good with men, women, and children. I can be good with cats and I can be good with other dogs. I am afraid of thunder. The shelter staff would be happy to talk with you about how to help me to manage my fears.

Additional adoption info
The Ames Animal Shelter's adoption process is all about ensuring the right match for the benefit of both the people and the animal. We use our application screening process to pre-approve applicants for general adoption. This gets all the boring paperwork stuff out of the way so when you come in to the shelter we can focus with you on finding the perfect furry friend match.
Our applications are not a simple pass/fail process, but instead are an opportunity for us to gather information on the needs of your family and the situation you'll be bringing an animal into.
