Here's what the humans have to say about me:
NOTE: MILLIE IS WITH HER PEOPLE IN SANTA ROSA. GSRSV HAS NOT MET MILLIE. WE ARE LISTING MILLIE ON THIS WEBSITE ALONG WITH OUR OWN DOGS TO GIVE HER MORE ADOPTION EXPOSURE. PLEASE SEE END OF THIS PROFILE FOR CONTACT INFO.
"Millie" is a beautiful, 3½-yo, 65-lb, AKC-registered spayed female GSD who is sweet, protective and silly. Millie is healthy, microchipped and up-to-date on core vaccinations.
Millie is fine with people who she meets when away from the house, but inside the house she is very protective of her people so they have to put her in her crate when people that she does not know come inside. Her people believe that Millie would do well with someone who has a property where she can run her heart out.
Millie used to be OK with children, but recently she had a couple incidents in which she lunged at one of the two kids she lives with (8 & 10 yrs old). The first incident occurred after the older child had handled a friend’s dog, and the second incident occurred after the younger child had handled a friend’s cat. Neither incident resulted in a bite, but it was very scary for all involved. So, a home without children is now in order for Millie.
Millie is good with medium & large-size dogs, but NOT with little dogs. She routinely attends a doggy day care where she plays well with the other dogs.
Millie has never been around cats and likely would not do well with them. So, we are seeking a home without cats for Millie.
Millie is housetrained and is left free to roam inside when her people are gone for several hours. She received formal obedience training when she was a puppy. Millie walks great on a leash and is non-reactive towards other dogs who she sees when on walks. Millie’s off-leash recall could use some improvement.
Millie is a calm passenger in a vehicle. She loves to play with balls.
Millie’s people purchased her from a breeder in Cotati when she was a puppy. Though Millie is a very valued member of the family, the two near-bite incidents with the children have made it stressful to manage her—keeping doors closed, separating her from visitors, and worrying constantly about kids in the house. The anxiety has become too much for the family, so they are now seeking a new home for Millie.
Millie is located in Santa Rosa. Her adoption fee is $100.
Please contact Anya Cunningham at anya@Linkcpa.com or 707-758-9633.

This organization is committed to providing a positive adoption experience!

GSRSV became a 501(c)(3) tax-exempt, charitable organization in March 2013. All donations to GSRSV are tax-deductible as allowed by law.
Since February 2001, Brian Foran has funded GSRSV primarily on his own. Donations have played--and continue to play--a huge part in keeping GSRSV afloat, as adoption fees are a drop-in-the-bucket compared with the costs of running a large rescue program.
To make a monetary donation, please go to the donation page on GSRSV's Website: www.gsrsv.org/DonationsNeeded.htm.
Thanks for your support!

Because I am an independent rescuer caring for many dogs, I am presently unable to conduct regular adoption or "meet & greet" events.
I only arrange for people to meet the dogs that I have available for adoption after I have discussed the dog and have received an adoption questionnaire from them.

More about this rescue
German Shepherd Rescue of Sacramento Valley (GSRSV) is an organization dedicated to finding good homes for German Shepherd Dogs (GSDs) at risk of being placed in shelters, or who are already in shelters and possibly facing euthanasia. GSRSV is an independent rescue organization operated by one individual: Brian Foran. Though countless volunteers and benefactors have supported--and continue to support--GSRSV, I run and primarily fund the program, as I have since February 2001.
