My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

How this pet arrived:
Chicka was brought in by her previous owner on April 26 2025.

Why this pet is the one for you:
Meet Chicka, an adorably sweet gal in search of a loving home! She might take a little time to get to know new people, but she is the biggest teddy bear once she feels comfortable! Chicka likes to be pet and cuddle with staff members - she has stolen the hearts of many! This fashionista reportedly does well with cats and has a mixed history with other pups, preferring to avoid any dog parks. Chicka enjoys classical jazz music and sunsets by the beach. She will thrive in a home where she can receive plenty of care and gentle affection, enjoying peace and quiet without the hustle and bustle of young children (under the age of 10). In return, she will be your loyal and affectionate companion! If you're interested in adding Chicka to your family, grab a leash and collar and come meet her today.

At SDHS:
Chicka has been vaccinated, microchipped and spayed. She is now ready for her new home!

Shy/Fearful Dog: Chicka requires a virtual behavior consult, please watch THIS video to learn more about her.

More about this shelter

San Diego Humane Society, an open-admission shelter, is creating a more humane world by inspiring compassion and advancing the welfare of animals and people. Our lifesaving safety net has helped San Diego become the largest city in the U.S. to keep healthy and treatable shelter animals from being euthanized. We are a private, independent, nonprofit organization that is not affiliated with any other humane society or society for the prevention of cruelty to animals.

With campuses in El Cajon, Escondido, Oceanside, Ramona and San Diego, we provide animal services for 14 cities within San Diego County. We not only care for 50,000 animals in our communities but also share the expertise we have gained through our innovative programs with shelters nationwide so they can save more lives in their communities.

While our influence is expanding nationally, our top priority is meeting the needs of San Diego. We provide exceptional care for all animals through world-class veterinary medicine, shelter and most of all: love.
