Here's what the humans have to say about me:
Meet Columbo 25C-180
On the way to the bark park session, Columbo journeyed down the shelter kennel corridor while totally ignoring the sweet-talking “cat-calls” of dozens of well-wishing canines. If you have ever wondered why the TV Columbo always wore a down-to-earth rain suit, you will never have to deliberate again…. just like the original, our Humane Society Columbo’s suit sheds off water like it was divinely designed. It may take a sunshiny day to fully evaporate the moisture from his Catahoula/Flat-Coated Retriever coat but our Humane Society Columbo knows that he shares other attributes with his namesake with many other desirable traits to offer: endless from-the-heart-smiles, a wonderful desire to please, a seven-year experience of life adventures on this planet, and the wish for a human who will join him in the quest of kindness for all.
Columbo is a mellow natured canine who stepped into the doggy wading pool and eventually worked up the courage to place his face completely under water and nosedive for the submerged hot dog treats, which he deservedly apprehended. Columbo interacts marvelously with all the other dogs who share his exercise pod, even a somewhat temperamental next-door neighbor named Tiki. Columbo is a huggable, lovable canine who will instantly be your best “let’s share our life together” friend.

Our adoption fee is $70 which covers all the basic shots and worming medications appropriate for the age of the animal as well as the required spaying or neutering. If the animal is too young to be neutered, a voucher is presented to the adopter to cover the process at a participating vet. Rabies shots are not included. We have an application process in which we ask basic questions to insure that you and the chosen pet are a good match for each other. We do require a vet reference. If you have been arrested and convicted of animal abuse or neglect, you will not be considered for adoption. If you do not own your home, a letter from the landlord giving permission to have a pet is required. Local ordinances regarding maximum numbers of pets shall be observed. All other household pets must be spayed or neutered. All pets are adopted "as is." Should the pet not work out after you take it home, we ask that you return the animal to us for re-homing. We want each animal to find a loving forever home and reserve the right to refuse any application should the individual needs of the chosen animal not be in that dog's best interest. Contact our office for inquiries and applications.
