My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Meet Piggy, very cute little pittie girl, needs a foster home to recover !
Precious 1 y/o Bully Pup Piggy!!
In June, Piggy was found very close to death. Someone found her and she’s recovered pretty well. Boarding at the hospital in Tarboro, NC
She was completely consumed with mange. Her coat has come back and she’s an extremely sweet, humble girl. One year old, 39 lbs, spayed, vaccinated, Heartworm negative. Please consider giving her a nice home and family who can continue to love her. Please email us with any questions, and a chance to meet this sweet girl.

Go meet their pets

We do conduct local adoption outings. We also show our dogs by appointment. We are in need of foster homes for our dogs, and accept any volunteer help. If you may be interested in providing temporary shelter and love to an animal in need, please contact us at BlueRidgeDogRescue@gmail.com

More about this rescue

Blue Ridge Dog Rescue is an all-volunteer, non-profit, non-euthanizing rescue based in Charlottesville, VA. We provide a safe haven for our homeless pets while they are awaiting a permanent home. They are mostly young adults, but occassionally we'll have a senior that needs a retirement home! They are saved from high-kill shelters/pounds or from owner give-up situations. While in our care, they receive a health checkup, spay/neuter, all shots, de-worming and heartworm/tick disease testing. Please check our Pets List, and contact us for a personal meeting. If you don't see exactly what you are looking for, please email us and we'll help you find that perfect pet. If you can't adopt at this time, please consider volunteering with us or sponsoring an animal.

Please note: We are busy folks and don't have "regular business hours". For this reason, we don't show the dogs until an application has been submitted. Submitting an application does not obligate you to adopt a dog, but it does tell us that your interest in adopting an animal is serious. We thank you for being considerate of our time and efforts.

We do rescue cats/kittens when the need arises, but this is not our primary function. Please contact the regular Cat Rescue groups in your area for help.
