Here's what the humans have to say about me:
Meet Slim Jim!
He is a 5 year old mixed breed dog who weighs about 50 pounds. Slim Jim was given his name because he came in as a stray and was very emaciated and needed immediate medical care. He is gaining weight each and every day, so he will likely be 60-65 pounds when he is a healthy weight. Now that Slim Jim is feeling better, he is showing us his wonderful and goofy personality. He is the perfect mixture of playful and laid back, and the quickest way to his heart is through his stomach.
He is a smart boy who will gladly learn a few new tricks in exchange for some tasty snacks, and he is always ready to go outside for a walk. Slim Jim shows potential to live in a home with another dog, but he can be very excited at first, so he would need slow introduction to see if they`d be a good fit. Slim Jim does not show potential to live with cats in his forever home.
Since he is such a sweetheart, he could live in a home with kids ages 10-13 and older and he shows potential with younger visiting children.
If Slim Jim sounds like a perfect fit for your family, stop in today to meet him!

All of our adoptable animals are up-to-date on all age appropriate vaccinations, spayed or neutered, de-wormed, de-flea and microchipped before adoptions are finalized. All dogs over six months of age receive a temperament assessment by our Certified Professional Dog Trainer to ensure appropriate placement. Also, many animals in our care receive basic obedience training to improve manners and increase adoptability.
We are currently doing adoptions by appointment only. Please contact us by phone at (234) 212-9843 or email at adoptions@summithumane.org, and an adoption counselor will return your message. They will review our adoption process, answer any questions, and tell you more about the animals currently available for adoption at our shelter and in our foster program. If we have a match for you and your family, an appointment will be scheduled to meet the animal.
Additional questions can be directed to our adoption team at (234) 212-9843.

More about this shelter
Since 1968, the Humane Society of Summit County (HSSC) has been the trusted caretaker and advocate for Summit County’s victims of animal abuse, neglect, and abandonment and stray animals suffering from illness and injury. We employ two full-time Humane Officers who respond to emergency calls, investigate animal cruelty, and, as warranted, prosecute offenders. We protect and care for our community’s abused, discarded, and forgotten animals. We strive every day to rehabilitate our rescued animals, find them great homes, and provide them with bright futures.
