What if the best dog you’ll ever have just needs you to slow down? 🖤
Max has been with us since October — the longest of any dog currently available. And not because he isn’t amazing… but because he isn’t instant.
Max is not a pop-up pug. He doesn’t perform for strangers. He observes first. He thinks. He assesses. It’s almost like he was a watchdog in another life — he’ll sit with his back to his foster, quietly keeping lookout like her personal security detail.
He’s an incredible alert dog (Amazon drivers beware), but underneath that watchful nature is a deeply loyal, sensitive boy who bonds hard once he feels safe.
Max had a loving family who had to surrender him due to landlord issues. He was adopted again from the shelter, but after only a couple of weeks, that family surrendered him to us because he became too attached to the dad. Max doesn’t love halfway — he attaches fully.
When he came to us, he was reactive and didn’t get along with other dogs. Today? He lives seamlessly among nine canine roommates. That transformation didn’t happen overnight. It happened because someone gave him structure, boundaries, and patience.
Max needs:
✨ Time to settle
✨ Clear leadership and consistency
✨ A calm, low-traffic home
✨ Someone who understands sensitive dogs
He knows love. He just needs to trust that it won’t disappear.
He’s crate trained, potty trained, knows tricks, loves walks, and enjoys car rides (secured safely). He avoids busy social scenes because they overwhelm him — he’s not your patio brunch dog. He’s your loyal shadow, your quiet protector, your ride-or-die companion.
Max isn’t hard. He’s heartfelt.
He isn’t too much. He just feels deeply.
If you’re willing to be patient and give him the space to settle, Max will give you something far more valuable than instant — he’ll give you unwavering devotion. 🖤
