My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Meet Fiona
6 years old • Shepherd mix • House-trained • Loyal & Loving

Looking for a devoted companion who’ll be your biggest fan (and butt-scratch enthusiast)? Meet Fiona—a 6-year-old shepherd mix with a gentle heart, soulful eyes, and just the right amount of sass.

Fiona is a loving, loyal girl who forms deep connections with her people. Once she trusts you, she’ll be your constant companion—following you from room to room, curling up beside you, and reminding you every day what unconditional love feels like. She can be a little protective of her favorite humans, so she’ll do best with someone who can offer calm leadership, patience, and reassurance as she continues to gain confidence.

Fiona is fully house-trained and enjoys a relaxed home life. The outside world can sometimes feel a bit busy for her taste, so a quieter home with a secure yard—or peaceful walks in low-traffic areas—would make her happiest. She’s selective about her dog friends and may prefer to be your one and only. She’s shown little interest in cats, though supervision and dog-savvy kitties are best.

She’d be most comfortable in an adult home or one with older, respectful kids (12+).

✨ Fiona is:
- House-trained
- Sweet, cautious, and affectionate once she warms up
- Best suited for a calm, stable home
- Loyal, quirky, and full of heart

Fiona may take a little time to open up—but when she does, she’ll be the kind of best friend who loves you with her whole heart.

Additional adoption info

Since we make a lifetime commitment to any animal that comes into our program, we only adopt out animals to people in our area..

If you are interested in adopting a CAWS cat or dog, please fill out the online application at http://www.caws.org/application/, email adopt@caws.org or call 328-4731. For the most timely response applying online is recommended.

We respond as quickly as possible but as we are a volunteer based organization and do not have full time staff, we respond as quickly as possible.

Go meet their pets

CAWS does not have a conventional shelter facility - all CAWS animals waiting for adoption are in foster homes. The number of animals we can help find new homes for is closely linked to how many CAWS foster homes are available. For additional information regarding how you, too, can become a foster, please see our fostering page located on our web site!

CAWS volunteers bring cats and dogs to the PetSmart near 2100 South and 300 West in South Salt Lake on the third and fourth weekends of each month

We are also at the Sugarhouse PETCO (1165 Wilmington Ave) the first Saturday of each month.
