My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Lucy could win an award for pure adorableness. When she first arrived, she was sad, frightened and unsure of her new world. But with time, patience, and the love of every volunteer she met, her true self blossomed. Now her gentle, tender heart shines so brightly that she melts the soul of everyone lucky enough to know her. Lucy came in carrying a few extra pounds, but with care and encouragement she’s feeling like a million dollars — happier, healthier, and full of quiet confidence. Lucy is a delicate, graceful lady with a calm and sweet nature. She absolutely adores her volunteer friends, and her whole spirit lights up when she gets to spend time with a mild‑mannered dog who matches her gentle energy.

Lucy enjoys and looks forward to her walks around the farm. She loves exploring, taking in the world at her own peaceful pace, and simply being by the side of someone who cares.

Lucy would thrive in a calm, loving home where she can continue to feel safe and cherished. She truly is one of the sweetest, most lovable girls you will ever meet. By welcoming her into your family, you won’t just be giving her a forever home, you’ll be making every volunteer’s heart happy, knowing this special girl will be treasured for the rest of her life.

Lucy is a 4‑year‑old Hound with a heart full of love, ready for her next chapter.

More about this rescue

Welcome to LaMancha Animal Rescue. Since 2005, we have been a qualified public charity under IRS section 501(c)3. LaMancha maintains a forty-five acre facility for rescuing dogs, cats, pigs, goats, horses, and the occasional exotic animal that requires more space or specialized knowledge than most SPCAs can offer.

We have two heated and air-conditioned kennels for dogs, each dog is housed in a run where they have indoor/outdoor access. There is a heated and air-conditioned building dedicated to cats, which is free range, no cages.

LaMancha is staffed primarily with volunteers, we currently have an active list of approximately two hundred. These volunteers care for the animals, exercise the dogs, either on walking trails, or large exercise fields. We try and take in the harder-to-place dogs, that wouldn’t have a good chance to be adopted in public shelters.

We have gained a reputation for saving and rehoming Pyrenean Mountain Dogs, known in North America as the Great Pyrenees. These large dogs are known for their gentle temperament as well as their independent streak. When you visit LaMancha, the famous “white dogs of LaMancha” are usually amongst the first to greet you.
