My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

This low riding, land manatee is someone's dream come true.  Nova is a chonky potato shaped sweetheart who is settling into foster like she's been there forever.

She walks well on leash, knows to potty outside, and takes treats with a very gentle mouth.

Does she have the grace of a drunk hippopotamus ?  Sure does.  Does she keep her dining area neat and tidy?  Not a chance.  Is she quiet when she sleeps?  If a lumberjack sawing wood is quiet, then yes.  Does she love to cuddle?  A million times, yes!!

If you've been searching for a roommate who snores, snorts and snuggles like a champ, and who has a ground clearance of a few inches, Nova could be your girl. Her Velcro score is 10/10 - she's your loaf-of-bread-shaped shadow. She wants to be where her humans are.

Nova is easygoing & respectful with other dogs, but she doesn't ever feel like she needs to get into the fray of play. She's content to watch the shananigans, but she wants plausible deniability. Nova would do well in a household with another chill & lowkey dog friend, but she would also love to be the only apple of your eye, the only potato on your lap, the singular focus of all your pats and belly rubs.

Got chew toys? She is 100% here for that! Giving out treats? She's always ready to receive! Love to run or hike for miles? That is NOT her scene. However, if short but interesting walkies are your jam, Nova wants to go with you!

Her short legs and squatty-body were made for looks and love, not for grace and coordination - so while she's gentle as a lamb, she's not a great match for small kids - she might bowl them over from happiness. She is perfect for kids big enough to prep for the impact of her adoration.

This dog is up to date on vaccinations and is spayed or neutered. (Please note: Puppies under 3 months old may not be sterilized prior to adoption. If this is the case, your adoption coordinator will provide guidance on the process.)

To adopt or learn more about this dog, you must complete an adoption application, which can be found on our website: www.sandypawsrescue.com.

PLEASE READ:

    •    If a dog or puppy is listed, they are currently available for adoption. However, they may already be pending an adoption, and their profile may not yet reflect this.

    •    All information is accurate to the best of our knowledge as of the posting date.

    •    Unless explicitly stated, Sandy Paws Rescue does not guarantee the breed of any dog. Breeds listed are educated guesses made by shelter staff, volunteers, or veterinarians. Many of our dogs are mixed breeds, often with pit bull-type genetics, resulting in a wide variety of physical traits and temperaments.

Our dogs come from various situations, such as kill shelters, owner surrenders, or as strays. It is likely both parents were mixed breeds as well.

Sandy Paws Rescue does not have a public shelter in Massachusetts. Our dogs reside in private foster homes or boarding kennels in the South until adopted. Many dogs are spoken for prior to transport or release from state-mandated isolation.

For information on adoption fees, procedures, or FAQs, visit our website: www.sandypawsrescue.com.

The FIRST step in adopting from Sandy Paws Rescue is to submit a completed adoption application.
