My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Since I'm a long stay pup, my adoption fee has been reduced! Visit me today to find out my favorite treats and how you can take me home!

What my friends at ACC say about me:

I would appreciate slow introductions to new people and places to help me feel safe.

I love to be loved, but on my own terms! Let's brush up on some canine body language together!

I'm ready to learn! I need a patient person who has the time to work on training with me.

Midnight is a smart and high-energy pup enrolled in our Shelter Scholars program, where he's building the skills to manage on-leash reactivity and enjoy more peaceful walks. With consistent training and focus-building activities, Midnight is learning to respond to cues and remain calm even in distracting environments. His dedication to learning is easy to see.

A volunteer writes: When I look at this happy puppy, I'm amazed at his resilience after spending almost 4 of his mere 12 months on earth in a shelter. Unbroken, Midnight perks up as I approach his kennel, and hops alongside me on the way out. In the yard, he alternates between enthusiastic fetch (with ball delivery straight to my lap, occasionally hopping into it, too!) and pensively watching birds, as they move with a freedom he can only dream of. Upon hearing baby talk, he bounces towards me in a charmingly clumsy trot, hops onto a bench, and hilariously fails to catch a treat, an important skill he plans to work on with you!

This is his second time at the shelter due to his guardian's difficult circumstances. He hasn't known much stability in his short life, and was initially so withdrawn that he was only available to rescues. Now blossoming into his true playful self, he is publicly adoptable! Previous guardian reports him to be friendly around familiar dogs and love water & baths. In the care center playgroup, he has been known to romp around delightfully with his friend Brownie.
